I’m not a convention junkie, but I do enjoy them.  But what is funny is the variety of conventions I go to.  I get something different out of each of them and look forward for different reasons.

At the end of June, I have one called LibertyCon.  I’ve only been going for a few years, but this is my home.  Science fiction, military sci-fi, fantasy, friends, and a very small con that makes me feel like I belong.  This is where I go to feel protected and know that I probably won’t come across as a complete idiot.

Dragoncon – my first major con.  This is loud, varied, overwhelming, and you never know what you will see.  It is visiting old friends you haven’t seen all year, seeing costumes that make you wish could do that, and finding panels that expose new addictions or reinforce existing ones.  Dragoncon is relatively unique from what I’ve seen, and something to be experienced.

Then in November, I have a 20booksto50k convention in Vegas.  Mostly I’m going to network and learn.  This is by far the most work-oriented convention for me – but…. I might be going a few days early to enjoy Vegas by myself.

There you go – I’ll be around at all of them so say Hi!
